Creative Motion Entertainment was hired by long time friend and business associate Zack Parker and his production company Along The Tracks Productions, Inc. along with his producing partner Faust Checho of FSC Productions to produce behind the scenes features for Zack’s latest feature film PROXY, starring Alexia Rasmussen, Alexa Havins, Kristina Klebe, and Joe Swanberg. Today was Creative Motion’s first day on set and it was filled with all kinds of wonderful drama both in front of and behind the camera.
The cast and crew work seamlessly together, like a well-oiled machine. This is Zack’s fourth feature film and his crew, filled with some veterans as well as fresh filmmaking recruits, are creative, passionate and focused on telling this story the way it needs to be told. I’ve worked with and known Zack for thirteen years and I can feel there’s something a little different happening on this movie-and it’s exciting to be around that kind of creative, buzzing energy. Zack’s confidence as a director creates an environment that allows for the creative process to unfold the way it should. He is excellent at preparation, and has found a team of people he trusts to help him along the way, but he’s also open to inspiration in the moment. And you can see the maturity of this award winning filmmaker in the way the day’s work is achieved.
Today we shot exterior shots at a local park in Richmond, Indiana. Two of the lead actors, Alexia and Alexa, did a superb job, keeping the characters grounded and their performances honest and emotional. We faced some dramatic challenges with the natural elements today when a storm threatened to cut the day short. But it kept everyone on their toes and they were able to get the coverage they needed.
Later in the day we moved to an interior house location and I think we were all happy to be out of the hot, wet humidity, and get into an air conditioned more controlled environment. The setups moved fast and the day ended with a lot of laughter and fulfillment.
Although I’m a little weary from traveling and a long first day (they began their shoot before my arrival) I’m excited to see what each day reveals about the creative and technical process of making the feature film PROXY.
